Ethics Policy

Our Ethical Foundation

At Undiscovered America, ethics are not an afterthought — they are the foundation on which everything we do is built. We are committed to producing entertainment journalism that is honest, fair, transparent, and respectful. This policy outlines the ethical standards that guide our editorial team, shape our coverage decisions, and define our relationship with our readers, our sources, and the broader entertainment industry.

Honesty & Truthfulness

We are committed to telling the truth. Every piece of content we publish — whether a news report, a film review, or a speculative feature — is produced with an honest intent. We do not fabricate information, misrepresent facts, or distort the truth to make a story more sensational or appealing. When we are uncertain about something, we say so. When we are wrong, we correct it openly. Honesty is non-negotiable in everything we publish.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial team operates free from external influence. No advertiser, sponsor, publicist, studio, or network has any say over what we cover, how we cover it, or what conclusions we reach. Our coverage decisions are made purely on the basis of newsworthiness, reader interest, and journalistic merit. We will never allow commercial relationships to compromise the integrity of our editorial content.

Fairness

We are committed to fair and balanced coverage. When reporting on disputes, controversies, or allegations involving individuals or organisations within the entertainment industry, we make every reasonable effort to hear all sides before publishing. We do not set out to harm reputations unfairly, and we give subjects of critical coverage the opportunity to respond where appropriate. Fairness does not mean avoiding difficult stories — it means approaching them with care, context, and integrity.

Transparency

We believe our readers have the right to understand how we operate. We are open about our editorial processes, our sources of revenue, our ownership, and our policies. Where content is sponsored or represents a commercial arrangement of any kind, it is clearly labeled. We do not hide our methods or our motivations. Transparency builds trust, and trust is the foundation of everything we do.

Conflicts of Interest

We take conflicts of interest seriously. Members of our editorial team are required to disclose any personal, financial, or professional relationship that could influence their coverage of a story. Where a genuine conflict of interest exists, the relevant team member will be removed from that story and it will be reassigned to ensure objectivity. We do not allow personal loyalties, financial interests, or industry relationships to shape the content we publish.

Accountability

We hold ourselves accountable to our readers and to the standards we set out in this policy. When we fall short — whether through error, misjudgment, or oversight — we acknowledge it and take corrective action. We do not deflect criticism or dismiss concerns raised in good faith by our readers. Our accountability processes, including our Corrections Policy and Fact-Checking Policy, are designed to ensure that mistakes are addressed openly and honestly.

Respect for Individuals

We cover public figures — actors, directors, producers, and others who have chosen to work in the public eye. While public figures are subject to scrutiny and commentary as part of their professional lives, we treat all individuals with basic human dignity and respect.

We do not engage in harassment, unnecessary intrusion into private life, or coverage designed purely to humiliate or harm. We distinguish clearly between a person’s professional conduct, which is fair to examine, and their private life, which deserves protection unless it is directly relevant to a matter of legitimate public interest.

Privacy

We respect the privacy of individuals, including those in the public eye. We do not publish private information about individuals without their consent unless there is a clear and compelling public interest reason to do so. This includes personal health information, family matters, and details about individuals who have not chosen a public role — such as the minor children of celebrities. We comply with applicable privacy laws and apply thoughtful editorial judgment in all privacy-related decisions.

Protection of Minors

We are committed to responsible coverage when it comes to children and young people. We do not publish content that could harm, exploit, or unnecessarily expose minors — including the children of public figures — regardless of how that information was obtained. The wellbeing of children takes precedence over any editorial consideration.

Diversity, Inclusion & Representation

We believe the entertainment industry is at its best when it reflects the full breadth of human experience. Our coverage aims to be inclusive, representative, and free from bias based on race, gender, ethnicity, religion, nationality, age, disability, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic. We are conscious of the language we use and the stories we choose to tell, and we actively work to ensure our platform gives space to diverse voices, perspectives, and communities.

Avoiding Harm

We are mindful of the potential impact our coverage can have on individuals, communities, and public discourse. We do not publish content that could incite hatred, encourage harassment, or cause unnecessary harm.

When covering sensitive topics — including mental health, personal tragedy, or allegations of misconduct — we approach the subject with care, empathy, and a clear awareness of our responsibility as a media platform.

Distinguishing Fact from Opinion

Our readers deserve to know when they are reading factual reporting and when they are reading opinion, analysis, or speculation. We clearly label all opinion pieces, editorials, fan theories, and speculative content so that readers are never misled about the nature of what they are consuming. Opinion and analysis are a valued part of what we do — but they are always presented as such, never disguised as objective news reporting.

Relationships with Public Relations & Industry

Our team regularly interacts with publicists, studios, and communications professionals as part of everyday entertainment journalism. We handle these relationships professionally while maintaining clear boundaries.

Access to screenings, press events, or advance materials does not entitle any party to favorable coverage. Our editorial decisions remain independent at all times, regardless of the access or courtesies extended to us by industry professionals.

Social Media & External Platforms

Our editorial standards extend to the way our team members represent Undiscovered America on social media and other external platforms. Team members are expected to uphold the same principles of accuracy, fairness, and respect in their public-facing communications as they do in their published work. Personal opinions expressed on private accounts are the individual’s own, but team members are expected to avoid conduct that would bring the publication into disrepute.

Enforcement & Reporting Concerns

Every member of our editorial team is expected to read, understand, and uphold this ethics policy. Breaches of these standards are taken seriously and addressed through our internal review process. If you believe that any content on undiscoveredamerica.tv has fallen short of the standards set out in this policy, we encourage you to contact us through our Contact page. All concerns are reviewed by senior editorial staff and responded to in good faith.

Living Document

This ethics policy reflects our values and commitments as they stand today. As journalism evolves and new challenges emerge — particularly in the fast-moving digital media landscape — we will revisit and update this policy to ensure it remains relevant, rigorous, and fit for purpose.
